Bracknell Sling meet is a group of local parents who originally joined the Facebook Group “Bracknell Sling Meet & Natural Parenting”. The idea of the group was to get local people together to share their knowledge and try out different kinds of slings before committing to buy and share their love of babywearing.
The group has been run by many different parents in the past, but Clare and Gemma are currently looking after the admin side of things, with a number of volunteers who also help out.
In early 2015 we decided we’d like to set up a “Sling Library” where parents could borrow different styles of slings and baby carriers on a short term loan basis to see what suited them and their babies. Loans cost just £6 for a two week hire period. We have a large range of different kinds of slings including buckled carriers, stretchy wraps, mei tais, woven wraps and ring slings to try and will help you adjust them correctly to ensure they are comfortable and safe. Take a look at our Library Page for more information about what we have in stock.
We meet every fortnight at Birch Hill Community Centre in Leppington, RG12 7WW (by Aldi & Birch Hill School). You can find all our upcoming sling meet dates by clicking here.

More about Babywearing & Slings/Wraps/Carriers
“Babywearing” is the practice of carrying your baby or child in a sling or carrier. It has been practiced for generations, and is still very popular in many countries, and growing in popularity in the UK too. There are many different kinds of slings, including high end boutique wraps, buckled carriers, mei tais, ring slings and plain cotton lengths of fabric. There are hundreds of different ways to tie the carriers and the whole world of babywearing can be very overwhelming to any parent. There’s a plethora of information on the internet including some fantastic tutorials and videos, but choosing the right carrier to be comfortable, ergonomic and safe can seem like a daunting task. We’d like to help parents make the right decision about which slings and carriers to buy, or even just give them a little taste of how wonderful and practical it is to carry your baby next to you.
We hope you find this site useful- please feel free to pop over to our public facing facebook page, or request to join our private group for more information.
